The Natural Malt.

The Glenrothes distillery lies beside the Burn of Rothes in the heart of Speyside, the highland area of Scotland made famous by the quality and style of its single malt whiskies.

For generations The Glenrothes Single Malt has enjoyed the highest reputation for its soft, well-rounded taste and has long been recognised by expert distillers and blenders as a Speyside malt of outstanding quality. This has prompted the distinguished wine and spirit merchants, Berry Bros & Rudd, owners of the world famous "Cutty Sark" Scotts Whisky, to set aside each year a small quantity of Glenrothes to be matured in oak caskes until such a time as it is judged to be at its best. In the cool, damp conditions that only the finest Scottish distilleries can offer, the maturing casks are meticulously checked, nosed and tasted over many, many years. Only when it has reached its peak of perfection is the Glenrothes given the signature of approval and finally bottled.

The Glenrothes' unusual bottle shape is derived from the bottles used in the Sample Room where the head taster selects the vintage. No artificial colouring is added before bottling; Glenrothes is a totaly natural product. The overall simplicity of its packaging gives prominance to the intrinsic qualities of this finest of single Speyside malts.

The Glenrothes is a naturally pale, amber-coloured malt with an aroma of great finesse hinting delicately of peat. The years spent maturing in oak casks have brought forth a good balance of softness and quality to the palate with a smooth, long-lasting flavour. To appreciate fully this excellent malt whisky, use a good sized glass and add a little pure, still water to release its wonderful aroma and lingering taste.

The Glenrothes John Ramsay Legacy Speyside - SCOTLAND

46.7% alc.

Tasting Notes: John Ramsay, the ‘Malt Master’ for The Glenrothes since the early 1990s, retired in June 2009. He

has been the genius behind the whisky’s exceptional quality, his signature has been on all fourteen labels since

2004. We asked John to make an expression that he would be proud to sign his name to for the very last time. He

has identified a pocket of 2nd fill American Oak sherry casks from Vintages ranging from 1973 to 1987. These he

has married, reduced very gradually in strength - without chill filtering - to produce a Glenrothes that will stand as

his legacy to The Glenrothes. John Ramsay’s flavour notes underline the dark chocolate character, blood oranges

and vanilla notes of this malt.

Copper engraved label, each individually numbered. Presented in an oak box with bottle shaped window.

The pack includes a booklet signed by John Ramsay, while each bottle is etched with John Ramsay’s signature.

The Glenrothes 1978 Vintage - SCOTLAND

43% alc.

Tasting Notes: The Glenrothes 1978 Vintage is the latest expression from the distillery and, with very limited

availability, is almost certainly the very last Glenrothes from the 1970s. It comprises a small selection of casks,

hand-picked by Malt Master John Ramsay, at the very peak of their maturity. John Ramsey describes it as "...rich

vanilla, fruit compote and intense spice". The bottle is packaged in a copper and oak frame, reflecting the

distillation and maturation which create the whisky's flavours. The Glenrothes 1978 Vintage has been voted the

"Best Speyside Single Malt" at the World Whiskies Awards 2008, organised by Whisky Magazine.

1991 The Glenrothes, Speyside, 43% - SCOTLAND

The Glenrothes 1985 Vintage - SCOTLAND

43% alc.

Tasting Notes: Talk about bounce-backability. Glenrothes first released the 1985 Vintage in 1997. It was popular

then for its aromatic spicyness. The Glenrothes Malt Master, John Ramsay, has now agreed that the last remaining

drops be vatted and bottled for the latest version of this great Vintage. The memories of the previous bottling are

present but the benefit of additional years has increased the complexity and perhaps delicacy of this deliciously

oaky honeyed dram. From an afternoon treat this has turned into an evening delight. A classic to accompany many

puddings and thereafter.

The Glenrothes 1991 Vintage . - SCOTLAND

43% alc.

Tasting Notes: The latest Glenrothes Vintage from the early 1990€s. While you might imagine this Vintage would

be similar to the 1992, there is a world of difference. The 1991 is less formal than the 1992. Enticing, open and

refined it is lively and spicy on first meeting followed by a fruity voluptuousness and with water, liquorice and

Demerara sugar evolve in a smoothing and rounded finish.

The Glenrothes typical characteristics are all there, of course, but in the 1991 the emphasis is on vanilla,

butterscotchy flavours. Try this with Chopin€s Nocturne in D flat major.

The Glenrothes 1994 Vintage . - SCOTLAND

43% alc.

Tasting Notes: This Vintage was put together with the thought of showing an uplifting expression of The

Glenrothes. To whet the appetite and enhance the mood: best either after a light meal or before dinner. It contains

the character and complexity of all The Glenrothes expressions with a zestiness which may pleasantly surprise even

the most regular of Glenrothes enthusiasts.
